The Sex Pistols' symbolic signing of their record contract in front of Buckingham Palace in 1977, just after inking a deal with A&M Records, was a rebellious moment that defined punk's ethos. This infamous event, with 'God Save the Queen' as their banned single, marked a provocative PR stunt orchestrated by Malcolm McLaren. Steve Joester had unique access to document the historic scene, capturing the band's irreverent spirit and the lasting influence of punk on culture and fashion.

Steve Joester, an award-winning photographer and artist, began his journey influenced by "pop" art and the impact of photography on a generation shaped by icons like David Bailey. In the 70s and 80s, he established himself as a leading photographer of rock artists, documenting the raw energy that defined a generation of music fans. His work includes iconic shots of the Rolling Stones, Bob Marley, Sting, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Queen, and The Clash. Joester's multi-media style captures the chaos and control of live performances, evolving over time to minimalist black and white compositions inspired by pop art roots.
