The Beach Boys performing at the Great Western Express Lincoln Festival, Bardney, Lincolnshire. This image is featured within the packaging of the new Sail On Sailor multi-disc box set featuring newly remastered versions of 'Carl and the Passions – "So Tough"' and 'Holland,' plus 'Holland''s 'Mount Vernon and Fairway (A Fairytale)' EP (complete with its original instructions to "please listen in the dark") and boasts an unreleased live concert recorded at NYC's famed Carnegie Hall on Thanksgiving 1972, the first-ever release of a complete Beach Boys concert from this era with the original setlist.
Daryl Dragon was a member of the Beach Boys before joining his girlfriend (and eventually wife) Toni as Captain and Tennille. Toni also played keyboards for The Beach Boys on a couple of tours that year.
Michael Putland photographed The Beach Boys numerous times from 1970 onwards mainly in Europe where he covered their huge concerts at Wembley Stadium and numerous other concerts and sittings with the band. He relocated to New York in 1977, where Michael co-founded the Retna photo agency, which went on to become on of the most comprehensive and respected music and celebrity photo image libraries in the world.
