About /
Exhibition
Delve into a dazzling array of historical images communicating the excitement of stereoscopy during Victorian times, and learn about its origins and the people behind this beautiful invention; the Emporium also features a carefully curated collection of antique stereoscopic viewers and cards.

What makes this medium particularly remarkable is that it was invented in 1832 and presented to the world in 1838, by Sir Charles Wheatstone FRS, even before photography was announced. Stereoscopy's full potential was unleashed when it was used in combination with photography, which even modern day stereo photographers can attest to.

Visit our Gift Shop online and at the gallery and bring home the magic of Sir Brian May's London Stereoscopic Company. Proud Galleries exclusively houses the first ever modern LSC shop and all the treasures they ever created!
